Virginia Carroll Shrouder Bass, age 90 of Hazlehurst passed away on October 25, 2023 at the Jeff Davis Hospital.
Mrs. Bass was born in Douglas to the late Mr. Selma Monroe Shrouder and Mrs. Wilma Wayne Young Shrouder. She enjoyed fishing, reading, and going to the Senior Citizen Center. She also loved to crochet, gardening and was known to be a good cook.
She was a well known Avon Lady for many years.
She was a loving, sweet and kind mother and grandmother, she loved her family and enjoyed so much spending time with them.
She is preceded in death by her Parents, her husband, Robert M. Bass, Sr., siblings, Dorothy Ellis, Clara Barrs, S.M. Shrouder, children, Jean Deloach, Debbie Jones, grandchildren, John Thomas Blackburn, and Josh Jones.
Survivors include her four daughters, Robbie (Johnny) Blackburn of North Carolina, Sandra(Carroll) Tinsley of Pelham, Kathy (Reggie) Crosby of Graham, Christy (Dale) McCrillis of Hazlehurst; and her son Buddy (Genise), Bass of Hazlehurst; twenty two grandchildren, Jessie (Marci) Ivey, Nick Ivey, Blake (Heather) Tinsley, Katy (Jarred) Suggs, Anna (John) Faulk, Christa Crosby, Clay (Sonja) Crosby, Justin Yawn, Jenny (Chris) Parlor, Garrett Rowland and Brent Miller, Amber (Jonathan) Yawn, Jeremy Faulk and Reese Waters, Kevin (Whitney) McCrillis, Jessica (Chris) Boyd, Nicole (Colin) Blackburn, Jessica (Randy) Kornegay, Jarred Blackburn, Colyn (Sarah) Bass, Cynthia Lowery, Lucas Spires, Briley (Dustin) Hinson and Wyle Wilkes; thirty seven great-grandchildren; her fur baby, Bitsy and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Along with a special friend, Kricket Kersey.
Services for Mrs. Bass will be held Saturday October 28, 2023 at Southside Baptist Church beginning at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery. Rev. Edward Mathews will officiate.
Her Grandchildren will be serving as pallbearers, Jess, Nick, Blake, Anna, Clay, Justin, Garrett, Jeremy, Jarred, Colyn, Lucas, and Wyle.
