William Gardner Obituary

Mr. William Durwood Gardner, better known to all his family and friends as Mr. Dub Gardner, age 72 of Hazlehurst, passed away Friday, December 20, 2024, at Meadows Memorial Hospital in Vidalia.

Mr. Gardner was born June 02, 1952, in Waycross Georgia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Cline Gardner and Betty Sue Gardner and sister, Linda Gail Butler.

He was the Owner and Operator of G & W Equipment for almost 30 plus years and a member of Oak View Baptist Church.

Mr. Dub was a true Christian Southern Family Man, had a smile for everyone and never met a stranger. He was a man with strong work ethics, and always loved driving his tractor to do that work.

He had a heart of gold, he never was ashamed to say, he loved his Lord Jesus Christ, his sweet wife, his sons (their wives) and especially those precious grandchildren which he cherished. He will be sadly missed by all.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Cathryn Gillis Gardner of Hazlehurst; three sons and daughters-in-law; William David  and Stephanie Garner of Hazlehurst, Jacob Daniel Gardner of Hazlehurst and James Elton and Candace Gardner of Hazlehurst; brothers, Jerrod (Dale) Gardner of Blackshear and Dennis Gardner of Tennessee; sisters, Lenor (Tom) Kirkland of Waycross, Vera Jane (Larry) Wainright of Hoboken and Clara Annette (Sugar Baby) Smith (Stacy) of Hoboken; four grandchildren, William Blake Gardner, Makenzie Brooke Gardner, Alisa Marie Gardner and Haley Michelle Gardner; several nieces and nephews also survive.

A visitation will be held Sunday afternoon, December 22nd, from 4:00-7:00pm in the Chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 23, 2024, at 11:00AM at Oak View Baptist Church with Rev. David Barber, Rev. Kenyon Fennell and Rev. Clint Ledford officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Wil Wainright and Cylor Kirkland will serve as honorary pallbearers.

David Gardner, Jacob Gardner, James Gardner, Blake Gardner, Jason Dixon, Larry Gillis, Josh Taylor, and Josh Ray will serve as active pallbearers.

Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
