Ms. Wilma Grace Creech, age 93, of Hazlehurst, died Sunday, June 13, 2021 after a short illness under the care of Community Hospice at Jeff Davis Hospital.
Ms. Creech was born September 15, 1927 in Laurens County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace Hester and Neta Browning Hester; three sisters, Estelle Cone, Vera Pittman, and Myrle Shoemaker; two brothers, Horace Hester, Jr. and Paul Hester; grandson, Paul Creech, and her husband, Robert (Bob) Creech. Ms. Creech worked many years at Hazlehurst Manufacturing, Stardust Industries, Glenville Lingerie, Hazlehurst Mills, and ERO Industries, but her favorite of all jobs, was the time she spent working at WalMart, getting to greet and serve the customers within the community. She loved flowers, reading, was a great cook, loved working cross word puzzles and was a member of Union Springs Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Teddy Creech of Bloomingdale and Mike (Kim) Creech of Hazlehurst, two grandsons raised by their grandmother, Tony Creech and Bobby Creech; two sisters, Betty Sammons of Prattville, Alabama, and Darlene Hayes of Sacramento, California, and two brothers, Donnie Hester of McRae, and Ronnie (Joan) Hester of Towns. Five grandchildren, Angie Murphy, Renee Davis, Stormie King, Leah Creech and Tristan Blaylock; eleven greatgrandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren also survive.
Visitation and Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at Union Springs Baptist Church, visitation will begin at 10:00am and funeral service will follow at 11:00am with Rev. Merle Webster officiating.
Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery, located at 83 Adams Road, Hazlehurst.
